What Are We Having? (Hint: Read to Find Out)
The poll has closed...
The ultrasound has been performed...
We've told our families...
Now its time for you to know...
We're having...
Two...
BOYS!!!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I did the deed. My little swimmers met a couple little eggs and flat told them "I'm about to make you male!" They didn't make an idle threat either. They did exactly what they told the eggs they were gonna do. They created two little David's! :) In the process, they made Daddy a happy man.
Now don't get me wrong - I would have loved two girls or one of each just the same. But two boys? Ahhh... We're so excited.
Miranda has been walking around all afternoon in complete shock. As for me - I'm a typical, proud, happy, twin-son-having daddy!
Ok, ok... I'll shut up and post the pics. Geez, I can hear your thoughts.. Dang, you're so impatient. Here they are. :)
Yep, that's a little 'turtle.' Our little Baby B (the higher one, and the MUCH more active one) is proud of his junk. He proudly displayed it almost the entire time.
He get's that from me. I'm definitely not the shy one in the family. He deserves an 'Atta Boy' for being so co-operative.
This one is our calm little Baby A. He's directly underneath Baby B and has a lot less space to move around in. That's probably why he doesn't move much. See the next picture for a good laugh...
Now, it seems to me that when neonates are this age (ie 17 weeks gestation) they wouldn't have the ability to fight for what they want. Well, guess again. Here we see Baby A trying to push Baby B back a little so he can have some more room. Notice how much room Baby B has and how he's trying to keep it that way. If you look hard enough you can see the thin membrane between the two of them. Baby B has a hand and a foot on it... Baby A is pushing with one hand (can barely see that hand though, but its there).
Check this one out... Look at how near-perfect this shot it. Perfect profile... Baby B is comfortably reclined. The head and abdomen are very well defined... but keep going. It starts to get a little blurry, but you can see the still-small rump, the knee is bent up wards and if you follow it all the way you can see the foot. See what I mean? It just about can't get any better than this shot.
Wanna laugh til you hurt? Look juuust above the chin in this pic. See it? No? It looks like Baby B here has already got a mouth full of teeth and is cheesin' a huge grin. Probably because he's winning the war on room in the womb. HAHA He's definitely going to be the more active one. And, might I add, probably a little (read: a LOT) mischievous.
I can't believe it... my old fortune cookie really works! :) I'm never getting rid of this little thing!
That's all for now. If you want more pics of this ultrasound - and there are 9 more, go to my Facebook page and view the album there.

Daily Stats
As of 4/29/10 the babies are:
17 weeks, 2 days
5.25 inches
5.44 ounces

Tomorrow is the Day! (Hopefully)
First off... Can this week get any better? Today I learned that all the preparation I've been doing for the past (almost) 3 years has paid off. I passed the Mock RRT Exam - a test that you had to pass to be considered eligible to graduate. I passed with plenty of room to spare! So that's it. WOW! That's actually IT!! No more classes! No more school! I'm finished... OMG!Leaving this classroom that I've spent two years in is kind of bitter-sweet. I'm really going to miss all my friends. But at the same time, leaving signifies accomplishment. An accomplishment I've been trying for for 13 years.
Graduation is in 15 days!
Anyway, the reason for the title of this post...
Tomorrow Miranda and I go back to the doc for our next ultrasound. She's 17 and a half weeks along and there's a really good chance we will find out what our babies are. As any expecting father I'm on edge... anxiously awaiting the news. We're trying not to get our hopes too high though - there IS still a chance they won't show us anything. But... the ultrasound is scheduled for an hour so the tech will have plenty of time to get them to move around to try to get some solid confirmation.
Voting on the poll to the right closes tomorrow afternoon at 5pm CST. So be SURE to get your vote in before then.
OMG! I'm finished with school... I made it. I'm done! Hallelujah!!

17 Full Weeks Today
Here's a little info on the babies this week.
Keep in mind we do not know the sex(es) yet. So the "he's" and "she's" will not be accurate at this point. And since there's two, just replace the word 'baby' for babies. :)How Big is the Baby at 17 Weeks Pregnant?
Your baby is 5.1 inches by pregnancy week 17 and weighs almost 5 ounces! If you were to hold your baby, she would fit snuggly in the palm of your hand.
Your Baby's Growth and Development
Your baby during week 17 is very mobile, gleefully moving his joints here, there and everywhere and he will continue to do so as you continue your pregnancy week by week. The cartilage making up the skeleton in your baby's body is starting to transform into bone. At 17 weeks, your baby should be hearing things. Your baby will start putting on some layers of fat in the weeks to come, though at this point in time, your baby is made up of primarily water.
You may be feeling your baby move intermittently after pregnancy week 17, though as your pregnancy progresses, you will likely start feeling your baby move more and more.
There are many natural health practitioners that believe in the power of touch. Though your little one is still very small, your touch may do much to help him feel safe and warm inside the womb. If you haven't started already, you might consider rubbing your 'pooch' in calming circular motions. This will not only help comfort your little one, but will help initiate the bonding process with you and your baby throughout your pregnancy and after.
Other women find comfort playing music to their unborn children. There is evidence suggesting that your baby responds to music even while in the womb. Thus, there is no harm in playing some calm and engaging music to your unborn baby.
Your Growth and Development
At 17 weeks pregnant, your uterus will start changing resembling more of an egg shape instead of a round ball. It will gradually grow to inhabit most of your pelvis and abdomen. While this happens, your organs, including your intestines, get pushed to the sides. By now, you will likely be showing a little bit, though some women are still able to hide their pregnancies for many weeks to come.
By 17 weeks, your uterus should now be about 1.5 to 2 inches below your bellybutton, so you should be showing a little in your lower abdomen.
Changes in You
You are probably steadily gaining some weight by 17 weeks pregnant. Most women welcome the feel of their baby moving , but movements are still fairly erratic and won't seem regular for a few more weeks.
_______________________________________________On the subject of the babies moving... Miranda is feeling little flutters now and again. She says she's not sure if it is the babies moving or not. But I believe it is. :) I can't WAIT to start feeling them myself!!

Busy Week(s) Ahead
It looks like this week will be a very busy week.
I've got my Registry review all week (Mon - Wed)...
Plus Monday night is the awards ceremony for the entire campus. I'm getting the 2010 Leadership Award...
Thursday is the big Mock Registry Exam which should take about 3-5 hours...
And Friday... Friday is the next ultrasound. Its the one that's an hour long. Its the one where we'll more than likely find out the sex(es) of the babies. We're not getting our hopes too awful high. There is a possibility that they're gonna be shy - like their mother. (Love you, dear)
After this week, my days as a student should just about be over because NEXT Friday is our pinning ceremony and the Friday after that is, OMG, GRADUATION!!!
Still not finished...
Hopefully the week after that I can take, and pass, my certification test to get my CRT credentials..
And finally, after about 2 weeks of studying I can go take the real Registry Exam and get my RRT credentials.
Whew... very busy times ahead. And somewhere in there, hopefully this Friday, we can go to Huntsville and close on our home loan.
Wish me luck! Its gonna be a WILD ride for the next week (or 5).

New Pic - 16 Weeks 4 Days
Miranda knew I was missing her and my babies so she had her
sister take a picture for me...
I thought I'd share it with you all. Hope you enjoy.
I've read that weeks 16-19 are a time for a huge growth spurt for the babies. So each of the next 3-4 weeks pictures should be interesting.
Remember, comments and 'Likes' are ALWAYS welcome! Feedback is great. :)
G'night

Lazy Saturday?
You know, I'm sitting here all alone - well, me and the dog - and I'm actually bored to tears. You really don't ever realize how much your spouse makes life worth living until they go away for a couple days.
I know, I know... some of you WISH theirs would go on a month-long trip somewhere and you'd not miss them at all... But my wife has only been gone for 24 hours and already I'm so bored and useless - I can't stand to be around my lazy butt right now.
It'd be a tad bit different if it hadn't rained last night and today (although I'm VERY thankful for it). I could be mowing, mulching, fertilizing, transplanting... SOMETHING! I guess I could fold the last load of clothes. Or maybe shave the dog.
I think he read my mind... after typing that his ears fell back and his head dropped. Kinda the same way mine do when Miranda asks me to do the dishes. NO!NO!NO! Men are NOT like dogs... that was a bad analogy. Scratch that... DANG, I did it again. :)
I guess my plan for the day is to grab a shower, shave, drink my protein shake (I've gone from 248 to 238 in 2 1/2 weeks doing that by the way... another post maybe), check Facebook, take a nap, wake up, and veg out some more.
Anyone have any ideas? What can I do today?
10 Followers in Under 24 Hours!
That's a great start if I do say so myself! Please help us spread the word, family and friends, to extended family and extended friends. LOL
We'd love to have 50 or more followers soon. We're just so excited about our babies and we want to let everyone know it!
Thanks to all who've started following us already. And remember... its not ALL about babies. We'll be putting up all sorts of interesting things here and there. So keep checking in often. And please feel free to comment on any post at any time! We love getting comments and hearing from you!
Now its time to hit the sack. More to come tomorrow!
Night!

Week 10 (Roughly) Ultrasound Pic
13 Week Ultrasound Picture
Thought I'd post a picture of the last ultrasound we had done on 3/30. She was 13 weeks at this point. This is just one of the little buggers. Can't WAIT to go again next Friday for our 17 week ultrasound. The chances of finding out what they are then are around 60-70%. Keep your fingers crossed! I'll post a picture of the first ultrasound after this... one that shows both babies.
I Love It All, And I Can Prove It
This is a picture of the front screen of my DROID. My phone is with me at all times and I can just glance down at it whenever I want to see my babies and how they are progrssing. I've got my wallpaper set as one of the ultrasound pics, and I've got 3 apps that tell me what stages the babies are in and how long until they arrive.
Call it overkill, call it obsession... call it whatever you like.
I call it love.
I love everything about it and I love everything about my wife...
I love her baby lumps,
I love her baby bump,
I love her baby rump...
I love it all!! Woohoo! I'm gonna be a daddy!
"The Belly"
Here's a picture of Miranda the day she turned 15 full weeks. I think it was April 15th.
Isn't she cuuute? And she's now 16 weeks and 3 days... so this was a week and a half ago. 'The belly' as I've lovingly come to call it, is a little bigger now. Still it's already a good size since there are twins hanging out in there.
Another note, she believe she's starting to feel the 'quickening' movements. She can finally, albeit barely, feel them move!! How exciting. I can't WAIT to feel them myself!!
"Like" Button Added! This is Fun... :-)
Hey... I'm fast getting into the swing of coding HTML on here.
I've just added the Facebook 'Like' button to every post. If you like the post and want to tell me so (and I hope you do!)... just click the 'Like' button at the bottom of the post. It's that simple!
This is fun... :)
Google Analytics Shortcut
I know many of us are using Google Analytics to keep track of everything blog related.
Here's a simple shortcut you can use that will save several seconds when you are creating a new blog post:
Find your Google Analytics source code and copy it... Go to your blog and click on 'Settings' ... When there, click on the 'Formatting' tab at the top ... Scroll down to the very bottom where it says 'Post Template' ... paste the Google analytics code in that box ... click 'Save Settings' at the bottom.
You're all set...
Next time you go to create a new post, your analytics code will already be there. No more searching for it, copying, pasting... All that time has now been saved and you can spend more time blogging!
Updating Your Blog from your Cell Phone
If you're like me - always on-the-go - you'll love this little hint:
If you have an Android-based phone like the Motorola DROID or the like, you can go to the Android Market on your phone, download the AndroBlogger app and update your blog anywhere you happen to be whether you're in line at the grocery store, at a friends house, a party, a concert, ANYWHERE!
I've been blogging for less then 3 hours now and already I'm getting hooked!
Have fun!
Lunch with a Gorgeous Brunette
Just got home from having lunch with a gorgeous young lady. She's a brunette with dark brown eyes, a beautiful smile and a great laugh. My gorgeous pregnant wife, of course.
We ate lunch together at our favorite Mexican joint before she left town for the weekend to go spend time with her twin sister. Yes, my wife is a twin that is HAVING twins. How's that for irony??
Anyway, just a little update... stay tuned.
Technology ROCKS!
Just set up my account allowing me to update my blog by texting a number from my cell. Anytime...anywhere. Technology ROCKS! :-)
Initial
Well, well, well...
It seems that I'm now a part of the blogging world. Thanks to my close friend, Gretta, I'm going to give this a whirl.
Where to begin?
My name is David and I'm a happily married 33 year old man from north Alabama. My wife, Miranda is a knockout 26 year old woman who owns my heart in its entirety. We live in the house I grew up in after my parents divorced waaay back in the mid 80's.
As the name of this blog infers, we're expecting. Not just one baby, nooo... Ol' Dave doesn't do anything halfway... We're having twins. Yes, TWINS!!
Neither of us are parents, yet. And boy are we going to get broken in fast. Two of everything..
Everyone says that it is going to cost twice as much, but I beg to differ.. Sure, we'll have to buy two of most everything, but I've got a plan... Buy two but pay half price for both so it's like you're only buying one at full price. Impossible? Maybe at times... but the smart shopper can do it. And I consider myself a bargain hunter/smart shopper. So we'll just have to see how it goes.
You know, I must vent for a second. It seems that many times I tell someone new that we're expecting, they are really happy and congratulatory. But the second I go a little further and explain that it is twins, they say something stupid like "Oh, I'm sorry" or "Oh, no!" or "Good luck with that (in a not-so-good tone)."
I mean, c'mon, people! It's a blessing. Why does the news of twins prompt some people to automatically go from happy for you to completely inconsiderate? I don't get it. Sure, it'll be a lot more work and possibly less sleep, but the good Lord saw fit for this to happen and doggone it, we're ECSTATIC!!
That's it for now... hey, blogging is fun, even if no one is reading it at this point, haha!
