Does Vicks VapoRub on the bottom of a child's feet really keep them from coughing?
I've read in MANY different places and I've had several people tell me that this really works. We've got two little cough machines right now and it is getting really bad. The doctor says all we can do is apply Vicks to their chests and vaporize some into the air and keep them hydrated. I'm a Respiratory Therapist and I'm truly at a loss on what to do. I know I can't suction them and they are really too small for me to do chest percussion therapy on them to loosen up the mucus.
I'll read every comment and chime in when I need to.

I've never heard of that or tried it so I can't tell you but I do know that we used Vicks Vapor Rub on all of our kids chests (rubbing it in like the package says) and it always helped them tremendously. Let me know if that feet trick works!
And let us know if you guys need anything! We will gladly help you out and are praying the boys get well soon.
Mom of six here...including twins...yes it works. I also use vices on e chest. There is a baby vices version, it is safe and effective!
Thanks Pam. I'm assuming you meant 'Vicks.' We've been using the Baby version of Vicks but it hasn't helped, probably because the active ingredient is not Camphor like it is in the regular Vicks VapoRub. I'm going to buy some regular Vicks tomorrow and do this tomorrow night. I'll post results here or in a post of its own. Stay tuned!
I have tried the Vicks on my baby's feet and it helped! I also use a cool air humidifier and my favorite is these Benylin Vapour-Plugs It is like the glade plug-ins but with Benylin. I love them.... Hope your boys get better soon.
On the chest and if old enough you can put alittle at the back of their throat.
I have heard really good things about it! I plan to do it tonight with my son who has a bad cough today and I will let you know!
I am a new follower of your blog and I love it! www.mooseandtater.com
